ABOUT BELLA BUCANNON

Born and brought up in a large family on the southern coast of England, I learnt to read at an early age, preferring books to playing sport or games. I can’t remember a time when there weren’t stories running through my head, and as I grew older I’d happily wander around town or into the semi-rural areas letting plots play out in my mind.
I loved the freedom of slipping into my private world of brave and rugged heroes clashing with feisty, challenging heroines. There were beginnings, scenes and endings, many long forgotten, some resurfacing in the last few years as I try to bring them to life on the blank white pages.
I devoured children’s adventures in my younger days and historical romances in my early teens. Murder mysteries fascinated me for years and intrigue is still a great favourite. Modern romances of most genres are now my main reading.
Since migrating with my family to country NSW, I’ve lived in Canberra, Sydney, and finally Adelaide. There I met my loving and supportive husband, settled in the northern suburbs and raised two sons alongside much loved cats, dogs and other assorted small animals.
I love travelling especially cruising, including a memorable birthday in the Antarctic on a beautifully clear crisp day. Nestled in a quiet corner, watching waves ripple under blue skies, is a perfect place to let your creative juices flow.
My adventurous streak has also led me to abseil, tandem sky dive, enjoy a close encounter with leopards, (presents from my husband) Balloon ride (anniversary) white water raft in Zimbabwe, and conquer the Eureka Skydeck, Melbourne. At the CN Tower in Toronto, I jumped up and down on the glass floor then went out onto the caged open air walkway. Umpteen floors up, with the wind blowing my hair everywhere, it was a fabulous feeling.
Through all the years my mind never stopped its flow of fantasy and in 2008 I finally decided to write them down. At the time it was purely for my own indulgence, very amateurish but, oh, so much fun.
My writing ranges from romance novels, both sexy and sweet, to short stories and poetry.
